Most software review sites are affiliate operations dressed up as editorial publications. The highest-paying tools get the best reviews. The tools that don't have affiliate programs don't get covered. The free options get one paragraph before the paid upsell.
Get The Verdict exists because that model produces bad recommendations, and bad recommendations cost people money. The point of this site is to tell you which tool to use and which to skip — based on evidence, not commission rates.
What Get The Verdict does — and doesn't do
What we do: Research tools through documentation analysis, changelog review, pricing evaluation, and user consensus from professional communities. Apply a consistent six-verdict system to every tool we cover. Disclose affiliate relationships plainly. Recommend free options when they're genuinely good. Include a Skip verdict in every roundup.
What we cover: WordPress plugins and themes, hosting, SEO tools, email marketing platforms, and website builders — the tools that independent publishers, bloggers, and small business owners actually use and pay for.
What we don't do: Claim hands-on testing we haven't done. Run proprietary benchmarks. Accept payment to include or promote tools. Inflate verdicts because a tool has a generous affiliate program. Publish roundups where every tool is recommended.
What we don't cover: Enterprise software, developer tooling, or tools that require a team to evaluate meaningfully. The scope is deliberately narrow so coverage can be genuinely useful rather than broadly thin.
How the site stays honest
Get The Verdict earns commissions from some affiliate links. Those commissions fund the time that goes into research. The editorial rule is simple: the verdict comes first, the commission is a consequence, not a cause. Bluehost pays one of the highest hosting commissions available. It gets a Skip verdict on this site because the evidence doesn't support recommending it. That verdict costs money. That's the point.
Free tools with no affiliate program can and do earn strong verdicts here. Ghost, Substack, Google Search Console — none of these pay commissions. All of them appear in roundups with honest verdicts because leaving them out would make the roundup less useful.
Every article that contains affiliate links discloses this at the top of the page. The commission rate for each tool is stated in the pick card where it's relevant. Readers can see exactly which recommendations earn money and make their own judgment.
